HW & Review:
Success Criteria
- know the definitions (chemical kinetics, average rate, instantaneous rate, catalyst, activation energy, intermediate, elementary process, etc)
- know how to calculate average (using graph or rate data) and instantaneous rate (using graph)
- be familiar with a few methods used to measure reaction rate
- be familiar with Collision Theory and how it applies to the rate of a reaction
- be able to list and explain (in words and with diagrams where appropriate) the five factors affecting reaction rate
- be able to determine a rate law and rate constant for a reaction, given experimental data
- be familiar with order
- calculate half-life (or related variables) using the two equations introduced in this unit
- be able to draw and/or explain potential energy diagrams (reaction profiles)
- be able to determine overall reaction and rate law from a reaction mechanism
- be familiar with Maxwell-Boltzmann distributions and the statistical terminology and concepts associated with it
